What will I need?

This page will give you an idea of the sort of gear that you might want to bring with you. See the bottom of the page for additional recommendations for Mountain Bike weeks.

Specialist equipment for activities is provided and general equipment can often be bought/hired locally. Still, it might save you some cash if you bring along:

Suitable clothing. The Ardeche can be very hot in the summer so shorts and a loose fitting, airy top are going to make life pleasant.

Swimwear. For the inevitable riverside dip to cool off on those hot hikes and rides.

'Water shoes'. Something that you don't mind getting wet for canoeing/river crossings. Old trainers, jelly shoes or sandals (NOT flip flops!) are ideal.

Sturdy footwear. If you're planning on lots of walking with us then a good pair of shoes is a worthwhile investment. Trainers might not be up to the job!

A waterproof. Spring/autumn showers or summer storms can be amazing to watch and are even better from the inside of a waterproof layer!

Trousers and warm top. Not often required on summer evenings but good to have around in the early/late season.

A small backpack. Something with room for PLENTY of water, some suncream, a picnic and an extra top/waterproof.

Suncream. We are often blessed with a cooling breeze but the sun is HOT. Bring plenty of factor 20+ and keep slapping it on when you get the chance.

Spare camera memory cards or film. So as to never miss a great photo opportunity!

A Hat.

Insect repellant. Especially useful on spring/early summer evenings.

Sunglasses.

Copy of Insurance Documents.

Mountain bikers
For our mountian bike specific weeks you'll probably want to bring all the gear above plus:
Your bike! If you are not hiring locally.
Hydration backpack. We'll need to be taking on plenty of water.
Spares and tools. Especially if you are bringing your own bike. There's nothing worse than pushing the bike home or missing a day to hunt for spares.
Helmet and gloves. Can be hired here but if you have your own - why pay out?
Energy bars and gels. A little hard to come by here so stock up before you arrive if you're into big, energy sapping days out.
